What is a tracktool?

My definition of a tracktool is a street car modified for use on race tracks. This distinguishes a tracktool from a race car, which is purpose-built only for competition use on tracks. Tracktools are usually meant for use during track days and other events on race tracks, such as the Touristenfahrten on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. In many cases, tracktools are road-legal, making it possible to travel to the track without the use of a trailer.

It is often a goal to achieve maximum driving pleasure on a limited budget. Because of this, used sporty cars, which can be had for a reasonable amount of money, are often used as base vehicle. Besides driving itself, working on the car is an important part of this hobby.
